If you’re struggling to have a baby, should you add the herb Vitex (aka Chaste tree) to boost your fertility when there’s only so much room in the granny pill box?

There is research to support that Vitex can support hormonal and reproductive health. The results from randomized, controlled trials suggest benefits for Vitex extracts more specifically for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome (aka PMS), premenstrual dysphoric disorder, low libido and latent hyperprolactinemia. In some studies and in clinics we see that Vitex can help restore or regulate ovulation in certain cases of amenorrhea (lack of ovulation and menstruation).

As healthcare providers, Dr. Tanya and Mary have seen it help:
– Stress
– Fertility
– Women with PCOS
– PMS symptoms such as breast tenderness, and mood changes
– Short luteal phase (phase after ovulation)
– Menstrual cramps
– High prolactin levels

Although it sounds promising, it’s not a cure all. Instead of taking Vitex because it sounds good, we recommend that you seek the help of a TCM practitioner or Naturopathic doctor who specializes in reproductive health and hormones) for more effective, safe, and individualized care.
